Untitled

I can't think of a title tonight. I'm at one of those points where I have lots of stuff rolling around in my head again, but none of it seems ready just yet to bubble up into a blog posting. I hope some of it does soon, but I don't want to rush it. So for tonight, just sharing some realizations I've had.
I've been to two funerals in the past two weeks. The first about a week and a half ago, was for the son of a close friend and coworker. On the day of his scheduled full term delivery by c-section, the nurses prepping for the surgery could not locate a heartbeat. Everything through the whole pregnancy seemed fine, and less than a week before, everything still checked out great. It was an utterly tragic event, that I still struggle to even comprehend.
Today's funeral could almost be considered the polar opposite of circumstances. It was for my great uncle. He was 80 years old and had lived a full life, even though he is most certainly missed, especially by his wife of 63 years, his children and grandchildren, and so many friends. He was the embodiment of someone who 'never met a stranger'.

It was comforting to hear Christ lifted up at both of these funerals, despite their obvious differences. I hope I am loved like that at the end of my life.

So why do I tell you this? Well, one obvious reason is to ask for your prayers for these families. Really, though, I just think it's worth saying that you shouldn't waste a day. We aren't ever promised a tomorrow here on this earth, no matter our age or stage of life. Love those around you. Live with an eye toward eternity. Know that it is what you do for Christ that will last.

I'll try and do the same...
