Well, 2007's out, 2008's in. So what to post? Well, I thought I'd sort of run an adoption in review.
Since we started this adoption signing with our agency, here are just a very few things that have happened.
Two of every holiday. Most of the big ones we've spent two of without our son after our referral.
Two full seasons of every sport.
We have had two different international directors at the local agency.
We have had two social workers at the local agency. Our first social worker became pregnant about a month or so after our referral. Her child is almost a year old now.
Not one, but two different families that we know of with our agency completed two adoptions all in the time frame it has taken us just to get this far. One did go through the processes overlapping, but the other really did it at two separate times with several months in between them.
We were misinformed too many times to count, and lied to too many others.
Joseph went from being 20 days old when we saw his first picture, to being 20 months old now and counting.
I became an uncle to some cute twins.
My daughter got extremely smart and big.
And last, but definitely not least, I have 'met' some of the most amazing people on earth, and truly consider them dear friends, even if we never see each other face to face this side of heaven.
As happens every year, whether we realize it or not, some people celebrated and some people really struggled through these holidays. To all of you in either situation, you are in my prayers. I cannot thank some of you enough for your support of us in whatever our situation has been from day to day through this.
Keep praying that tomorrow (Wednesday 1/2/08) is a good day, and that our attorney does get our paperwork into the US Embassy. Once that's done, everything else is communicated more directly with us, and we can really start to better predict the week we'll probably go get our son forever.
